When my husband and I chose to build our dream home in Greenwich, CT we wanted it to be something really special. Being our first home ever we were envisioning in it all our hopes and desires cumulating from a lifetime of renting and living in others people’s houses. Choosing an architect that could translate our dream into reality was no easy task. There are many fine architects in the Greenwich area as well in the NY area that would be capable of creating the unique home we desired. We were looking for someone Young and accomplished with fresh ideas and great taste that would create the perfect fusion of a “modern house” fitted in a Classic New England style environment. Greg McGuire at McGuire Home was immediately recommended to us as the right Man for the job. Greg McGuire totally help us in the process (as newbie we did not have much of a clue) he guided us through the needed steps and did a fantastic job designing a new home for us. The shape of our lot, combined with our desire to design something different and capture a view from one end of the lot, made it a challenging project, but Greg came up with an architecturally beautiful and elegant solution. Working with Greg was a pleasure. He places his clients’ desires ahead of his own and was always agreeable to suggestions we made, yet would offer suggestions when we asked. He also has an amazing ability to solve design challenges that inevitably come up as plans get modified to achieve the final design. His ability to come up with solutions that we couldn’t see ourselves really sets him apart, so you can be confident that you are in great hands with the experience and expertise that Greg McGuire brings to the table. Gregory McGuire is our very talented architect and designer. He remodeled our 1950s 2 bedroom cape in Cos Cob, Connecticut into a lovely shingle style home with exceptional attention to the details. These include cedar shake roofing, overhangs, turrets, copper gutters, classic six over one architectural windows, two outdoor balconies and a huge front porch. Inside Mr. McGuire won awards for his design of the spectacular kitchen (Architectural Digest’s Readers Kitchen Remodel 2013) and custom master suite bath (2014 CTC&G Innovation in Design) with free standing tub, French doors that open to one of the balconies, Carrera tile, Waterworks sconces and Kallista fixtures. The living room with stone fireplace roots the home with Lillian August furniture and a custom rug. Wall details include high gloss paint finishes and grass cloth wallpaper, dark stained ceilings and floors. We live in our own boutique hotel, and I have Mr. McGuire to thank for that. He is delightful to work with and has become a dear friend. I will absolutely use him again and again for any project, big or small. He is a master designer.
